SUMMARY: Paul Salopek is one of the few people to have crossed a roadless, mountainous part of Afghanistan by foot. The journalist had previously reported there during the war. But as part of his Out of Eden Walk [National Geographic] around the world, he’s encountered a completely different Afghanistan than the one he had come to know.
