HEALTH CARE - Federal Exchange Overload Problem

Note that the problems have nothing to do with 'Obama Care' law, these are technical problems due to the unexpected demand when insurance exchanges first opened for business.  The software/hardware engineers just underestimated the demand, which was really dumb.  With all the anti-Obama-Care scare tactics people were stampeded into trying to sigh-up fast, when in fact there is plenty of time to do so.

Note that the state-run exchanges are working just fine.  This overload problem is with the Federal site, which in turn is due to all the states who did NOT setup their own site (which would have spread the demand load).

"Glitches far from fixed for online insurance exchange shoppers" PBS Newshour 10/18/2013

Excerpt

SUMMARY:  Beset with glitches and registration problems, the launch of the online insurance exchanges at the start of October were rockier than expected.  For an update on the status of the site and user experiences, Ray Suarez talks to Sarah Kliff of The Washington Post and Louise Radnofsky of The Wall Street Journal.

JUDY WOODRUFF (Newshour):  Now, as the federal government restarts its engines and the debt ceiling battle fades away, we return to the matter that triggered Republican anger at the outset: the rollout of the health insurance exchanges mandated by the Affordable Care Act.

The online launch of the federal version, a marketplace at healthcare.gov that operates in more than 35 states, has been beset by glitches.
