POLITICS - Republicans, 2010 Do-Nothing, 2011 Undo-Everything

"GOP’s backward thinking isn’t helpful" by John Dombek, Letter to the Editor Las Vegas Sun 1/6/2011

Last year the Republican Party did almost nothing. This year it plans to undo everything that did get done. Why? How can a plan like that help the American people? It’s naive, it’s wrong and just stupid.

Republican leaders know they can’t delete the health care plan, and even if they could, President Barack Obama would veto it. They also plan to weaken Social Security and Medicare. They should know that meddling with Social Security and Medicare will not sit well with the Baby Boomers beginning to land on the entitlement scene.

Sadly there is more. The Republican plan for 2011 includes seriously weakening the restrictions in place on emissions of greenhouse gases from oil refineries and power plants. They’ve got to be dimwitted after all these years of study and proof not to realize greenhouse gases kill.

Republicans, please stop undoing unto others. It’s a politically negative, wheel-spinning, colossal waste of valuable time. Instead put your considerable new weight and power toward initiating brand-new ideas that will help the American people. Certainly there has to be some Republican somewhere with interest in that.

Listen up Republican Party leaders to these old but wise sayings: Stop crying over spilled milk. Strike while the iron’s hot. Don’t just stand there, do something.

Republicans, the party of NO-HELP to 98% of Americans (costs too much) but feed the rich 2% of Americans all they want.

Also do NOT regulate big-business because we all know they are always ethical and are concerned about "the people" over profits.... NOT!
