KOREA - North Korea = Orwellian Society

North Korea is the lasting example of Orwell's 1944 type government. A totalitarian dictatorship.

A government in total control of ALL information and its citizens.

A "picture is worth a 1000 words" example is this one. (click image for larger view)

That little light-spot in North Korea is the capital, and this satellite shot is the normal situation.

Wonder how many ORDINARY North Korean citizens know of this picture? Especially considering that many do NOT have TV (that is not state controlled) nor computers.

"North Korea Takes Steps to Extend Dynastic Rule" by CHOE SANG-HUN, New York Times 9/2/2010

Excerpt

Kim Jong-il, the North Korean leader, is expected to convene a rare congress of the ruling Workers’ Party in coming days to pave the way for his son to succeed him, a feat of political engineering that would be a first in the Communist world: extending dynastic rule to a third generation.
