JEFFREY BROWN (Newshour): And we continue our look at the job market with a seeming paradox that Judy and Greg Ip referred to, unemployed workers who say they're desperate for a job, employers who say they can't fill open positions with the workers they need.
NewsHour economics correspondent Paul Solman looks into the disconnect, part of his ongoing reporting Making Sense of financial news.
COMMENT: In my civilian carrier I was a Training Manager (computer service) there was a video that included this on customer evaluations (paraphrased)....
'When customers evaluate you on your services, the majority will be from those who have had a BAD experience. Few, if any, who have had a good experience will offer an opinion.'
IMHO this is a principal that applies to everything we humans do, we complain about (and focus) what is bad or we do not like, without taking into account what is good in the same context.
In the case of the employers who commented on job-seekers NOT taking a job offer, I suspect that they are NOT taking into account, or have not had job-seekers, who DID take an offered position. That is a problem, painting ALL job-seekers with "I can make more on Unemployment" brush, when the majority do NOT do that.
