Richard Haass was director of policy planning at the State Department during the George W. Bush administration. He's now president of the Council on Foreign Relations and author of "Foreign Policy Begins at Home." Anne-Marie Slaughter also directed the State Department's policy planning shop, but during the Obama administration. She's now professor of politics and international affairs at Princeton University.
