POLITICS - Of Fear Cheney Style

"Cheney: Obama’s Refusal to Torture People Makes Terrorist Attack More Likely" by Blue Texan, FireDogLake

It appears that Dick Cheney doesn't believe in supporting the Commander-in-Chief during wartime.

The Obama administration has endangered Americans and opened the country to further attack by reversing Bush administration anti-terrorism policies such as harsh interrogations of suspects, former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.

Cheney told CNN's "State of the Union" that the Bush administration's "alternative" interrogation techniques were "absolutely essential" to preventing further assaults like the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.

Critics said those techniques amounted to the torture of prisoners in American custody.

"President Obama campaigned against it all across the country, and now he is making some choices that, in my mind, will, in fact, raise the risk to the American people of another attack," Cheney said.

They must not teach the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy at the University of Wyoming, because the notion that the absence of torture increases terrorist attacks is self-evidently bullshit. But does Cheney really believe headlines like this make us safer?

Cheney also called Iraq a great success, refused to take any responsibility at all for the implosion of the economy and is pissed that Scooter didn't get a pardon.

If anyone needed a reminder how good it is to be rid of these bunch of criminals we called the Bush administration, Cheney's appearance on CNN Sunday was it.

This in the face of non-partisan experts on torture bringing forth the fact that when torture is used, the victim will eventually admit to whatever the "interrogator" wants to hear (truth or lie) just to stop the torture.
