SYRIA - Inffectiveness of the UN To-Date

This is a personal view of the Syrian Civil War and the ineffectiveness of the United Nation's actions to date.

We have to remember the forming of the United Nations at the end of WWII depended on the original signatories agreeing. This meant the Russia getting veto in the Security Council. The same applies to China.

In regards to Syria, the Bashar al-Assad's government, Russia has a vested interest because of the naval base they have. Also, for both Russia and China, there is the alignment with their political philosophy/agenda.

This is the price the world pays to have the existence of the UN. It's compromise, and we need the UN to even have a CHANCE of settling global issues without nations going to war.

As to the Syrian Civil War from the ethical and moral point of view, as I stated in a previous post, why do we NOT have a No-Fly-Zone? The primary reason is Russia and China will veto the resolution in the Security Council. Therefore the ethical and moral question falls on Russia and China.
