"Drone Strike in Pakistan Kills al-Qaida's No. 2" (Part-1) PBS Newshour 6/5/2012
JEFFREY BROWN (Newshour): U.S. officials confirmed today a drone strike killed the number-two leader of al-Qaida. The strike happened yesterday in North Waziristan in Pakistan, targeting Abu Yahya al-Libi, seen as the most prominent figure in the terrorist network after its leader, Ayman al- Zawahri.

At the White House today, Press Secretary Jay Carney wouldn't confirm how al-Libi died, but said his death was a major blow to the terror group.

JAY CARNEY, White House press secretary: Removing leaders like al-Libi from the very top of al-Qaida is part of an ongoing effort to disrupt and dismantle and ultimately defeat al-Qaida. And that is an important piece of business.
