As to the issue of what Pakistan security knew, and the questions are legitimate, my comments:

• Does "hide in plain sight" ring a bell? Sometimes this is a strategy that works.


• As Panetta said, Bin Laden MAY not have always been there. He was known to move around. So area residents, including military, conceivably did not know he was there.


• To say that the Pakistan security/military should have known is wrong. They are as fallible as we are, look at the mistakes America has made in the past.

Having said all that, I too suspect that SOME of the Pakistan security individuals knew Bin Laden used the compound. I suspect that Pakistan security agencies are riddled with Al Qaeda agents/followers.
