I have witnessed a miracle, first with the fact that we could be electing the first woman or black President, second that we DID elect a black President! Yes we CAN!
For a long time, the last 8 years to be precise, I have been worried.... no frightened, on the course our America has been heading.
- The threat to our Constitution posed by the Bush Administration and his supporters. That a President, as Commander and Chief, could pick-and-choose what clauses of our Constitution he can ignore in the name of protecting America.
- The idea that there are Americans out there, that by their actions, do NOT really believe in the INDIVIDUAL'S Constitutionally Protect RIGHT to freedom of religion and religious practice. These people read the Constitution as giving them the right to use the force-of-law (local, state, federal) to IMPOSE their personal religious views and tenets on all Americans. They do NOT behave as they recognize that this is the attitude of the Islamic Fundamentalist that attacked America on 9/11, that they had the religious duty to do so. The prime example is these people using law to force their definition of marriage on the rest of us. (Prop 8 in California, undecided as of this post, is an example)
That is why I say America wins in this election, because there is still hope that we-the-people can stem the cancer effecting our Body Politic.
